Alex and the
4-Fish Story
Alex didn’t start his career among scallops and sea bass—he spent 15 years in London as an electrician working across computer centres and renewable energy projects. But regular visits to his parents in Lowestoft changed everything.
They had restored an 18th-century traditional smokehouse, and the craft, the flavour, and the heritage behind great seafood caught Alex’s imagination far more than the circuits he worked on. Over time, the pull of fish proved stronger than the pull of electrons. He moved to the East Coast, worked in the smokehouse, and soon founded 4-Fish, a high-quality mobile fishmonger serving Norfolk’s garden centres and farm shops.
Today, Alex brings fresh fish, real knowledge, and genuine service to hundreds of customers each week—driven by a simple philosophy: freshness, quality, variety, and a love of sharing great food. He now lives in Norfolk with his partner, embracing everything about the job… except perhaps the 3:00am alarm that makes it all possible.

Welcome to Green Pastures – an award-winning, family-owned garden centre, farm shop and countryside restaurant in South Norfolk, just a short drive from Norwich.
Whether you’re joining us for a freshly prepared lunch, an afternoon tea experience, or simply a coffee and cake in our peaceful restaurant, we’ve created a calm and welcoming place to relax and enjoy proper food.
Our menus are made with care using quality ingredients from local Norfolk producers wherever possible. It’s all part of our commitment to championing local, seasonal flavours.
Alongside our restaurant, you’ll find a plant nursery full of seasonal colour, friendly gardening advice, and a farm shop packed with Norfolk-made produce, deli favourites and thoughtful gifts.
